Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to the DTHA Hockey Academy website and to enquiries about DTHA services. A written quote, booking confirmation, participation waiver or service-specific agreement may add terms for a particular engagement.

At a glance
  • A parent or legal guardian must approve participation and bookings for players under 18.
  • DTHA provides evidence-informed coaching and evaluation, but does not guarantee selection, playing time, scholarships, contracts or a specific result.
  • Confirmed scope, price, scheduling and cancellation terms are provided with the applicable quote or booking.
  • Nothing in these Terms removes a consumer or participant right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

1. About DTHA and these Terms

DTHA Hockey Academy ("DTHA", "we", "us" or "our") is an independent player-development provider based in Toronto, Ontario and serving the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. These Terms govern access to dtha.ca and any successor DTHA website, together with general enquiries, assessments, quotes and services arranged through the website or directly with DTHA.

By using the website, submitting an enquiry or confirming a service, you agree to the portions of these Terms that apply to you. If the participant is under 18, the parent or legal guardian making the enquiry or booking accepts responsibility for reviewing the applicable information and providing required consent.

2. Website information and permitted use

The website explains DTHA's development approach, services and educational resources. It is general information, not individualized medical, legal, academic, financial or career advice. Content may be corrected, improved or updated without notice.

You may use the website for lawful personal or club-related purposes. You must not attempt to bypass access controls, disrupt the website, introduce malicious code, scrape it in a way that impairs service, misrepresent DTHA content or use the website to infringe another person's rights.

3. Services

DTHA services may include individual on-ice or off-ice sessions, goalie coaching, video coaching, scouting and player evaluation, performance testing and athletic development, team-development work, coach support and related education. The exact service depends on the player's age, current situation, goals, health and readiness, available facilities and the scope accepted by DTHA.

DTHA may decline or recommend a different service when the requested work is outside its scope, is not age-appropriate, cannot be delivered responsibly or requires a regulated professional.

4. Enquiries, assessments and recommendations

An assessment request or preliminary conversation is not a confirmed booking. Information and recommendations are based on the details, footage and observations reasonably available at the time. Families, players and clubs are responsible for providing accurate and relevant context.

A recommendation is a professional development opinion, not a diagnosis, certification, scouting guarantee or promise of future performance. DTHA may revise a recommendation when new information becomes available.

5. Quotes, bookings and service-specific terms

A service is confirmed only when DTHA accepts the booking or written scope. The applicable quote or confirmation should identify the service, participant or team, date or period, location or delivery method, price, taxes where applicable, payment timing, responsibility for ice or facilities and any special requirements.

A written quote, booking confirmation, waiver, facility rule or service-specific agreement forms part of the agreement for that engagement. If it directly conflicts with these general Terms, the more specific written term controls for that engagement only. Applicable statutory rights continue to apply.

6. Fees, taxes and payment

Fees are not established by the general website description. The customer must pay the amount in the accepted quote or booking confirmation, together with applicable taxes and agreed third-party costs, by the stated deadline. DTHA will not add a material fee that was not disclosed or reasonably authorized.

Where a payment provider is used, its terms and privacy practices may also apply. DTHA does not ask families to place full payment-card details in the website assessment form or an ordinary email.

7. Scheduling, cancellations and changes

Cancellation, rescheduling, late-arrival, no-show and refund conditions will be stated with the booking or service agreement. A participant should notify DTHA as early as reasonably possible if they cannot attend.

Ice availability, facility closure, unsafe conditions, weather, illness, coach availability or events outside reasonable control may require DTHA to change a time, location, delivery method or coach. When practical, DTHA will communicate promptly and offer the remedy or alternative required by the booking terms and applicable law.

8. Minors and adult responsibility

A parent or legal guardian must make or approve bookings, provide requested consents, review waivers and supply emergency and participation information for a player under 18. The responsible adult must ensure suitable arrival and collection arrangements and comply with facility access and supervision rules.

DTHA communicates with minors only for legitimate program purposes and aims to keep communication transparent and age-appropriate. Parents and guardians should remain included in material service, scheduling, safety and payment communication.

9. Health, safety and inherent sport risk

Ice hockey and athletic training involve inherent risks, including falls, collisions, contact with equipment or surfaces, overexertion and injury. These Terms do not replace any participation waiver, informed-consent process, emergency protocol or facility rule that applies to a session.

Participants must use required, properly fitted equipment; follow reasonable coaching and facility instructions; and promptly report pain, injury, suspected concussion, illness, unsafe conditions or relevant participation restrictions. DTHA may adapt, pause or end participation where continuing would be unsafe or materially disruptive.

Training, recovery, hydration and nutrition information is educational. It does not replace diagnosis, treatment or return-to-play advice from a physician, registered dietitian, physiotherapist or other appropriately qualified professional. In an emergency, contact emergency services.

10. Conduct and safe participation

Players, parents, guardians, coaches, staff, club representatives and guests must follow the DTHA Code of Conduct and applicable arena, facility, team and event rules. Harassment, discrimination, bullying, hazing, abuse, threats, retaliation, dangerous behaviour, deliberate property damage or material disruption may result in removal, restrictions or termination of service.

Consequences will be considered in light of safety, seriousness, context, repetition and the participant's age. DTHA may take immediate temporary measures while a concern is reviewed.

11. Video, images and material you submit

You must have authority to share any video, image, performance information or document submitted to DTHA. Game footage may identify teammates, opponents, officials or spectators; the sender remains responsible for any permission required to share it.

DTHA may use submitted material to deliver the requested review, evaluation or service and for necessary internal administration. DTHA will not publish a player's identifiable image, footage, testimonial or private development information for marketing without separate appropriate permission.

12. DTHA intellectual property

The website design, original text, graphics, illustrations, development frameworks, session materials and DTHA branding are owned by or licensed to DTHA. You may view and download materials that are expressly offered for personal, family, player or internal club use.

You may not sell, remove attribution from, publicly republish, falsely endorse, systematically reproduce or commercially exploit DTHA material without written permission. Third-party source material remains subject to the rights and terms of its owner.

13. Third-party organizations, links and facilities

The website links to organizations such as the IIHF, Hockey Canada, USA Hockey and other research or development sources for education and transparency. Unless expressly stated, those references do not mean that DTHA is affiliated with, approved by or endorsed by the organization.

DTHA does not control third-party websites, email providers, payment services, clubs, teams, leagues, arenas or other facilities. Their rules, availability, content, security and privacy practices may apply independently.

14. Evaluations, introductions and no guaranteed outcome

Player development depends on many factors outside DTHA's control, including effort, attendance, maturity, health, recovery, team environment, coach decisions and competition. DTHA does not guarantee team selection, roster placement, playing time, advancement, a scholarship, a contract, injury prevention or any specific performance result.

If DTHA identifies a potential team, club, coach or opportunity, that introduction does not guarantee acceptance, suitability, continued placement or a particular outcome. The player and family must complete their own review and make the final decision.

15. Suspension or termination

DTHA may refuse, suspend or end access to a service for non-payment, material breach, unsafe conduct, abuse of staff or participants, misuse of private content or another serious reason that makes responsible delivery impractical. Where appropriate, DTHA will explain the concern and any applicable financial consequence under the booking terms and law.

16. Website availability and liability limits

DTHA aims to keep the website accurate and available but does not promise uninterrupted access or that every page will always be error-free. To the extent permitted by law, DTHA is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss caused solely by use of, inability to use or reliance on general website information.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, a remedy or a consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Liability and risk relating to physical participation may also be addressed in a specific informed-consent or waiver document presented before the activity.

17. Privacy

DTHA handles personal information as described in the Privacy Policy. By sending an enquiry, you confirm that the information is yours to provide and that it may be used to respond and, if requested, arrange or deliver the service.

18. Questions, complaints and dispute resolution

Please raise a service or billing concern promptly so the relevant information can be reviewed. Contact info@dtha.ca or (942) 882-2701. DTHA will aim to understand the issue and seek a practical resolution without limiting any right to contact a regulator, governing body, insurer, legal adviser or court.

19. Governing law, severability and entire agreement

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, subject to any mandatory law or forum that applies. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to the extent permitted by law. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver.

These Terms and any accepted quote, confirmation, waiver or service-specific agreement form the agreement for the applicable service and replace prior statements about the same subject.

20. Updates and contact

DTHA may update these Terms when the website, services or legal requirements change. The effective date identifies the current version. Questions may be sent to info@dtha.ca or directed by phone to (942) 882-2701.
